The mission of Opportunities Make Destinies, Inc. (OMD), a Community Development Corporation (CDC), is to provide innovative, affordable housing solutions and comprehensive support services to homeless veterans and underserved populations - empowering them toward lasting stability and independence

Homeless Statistics & Demographics

• 40-60% of homeless individuals are employed, and/or receive social security, but unfortunately are still unable to afford housing

• Home prices increased by 1.1% in 2023, 4% in 2024, and is expected to increase by 3.7%

• Shortage of housing is mostly impacting low and middle income households

• According to the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) those individuals are now classified as "cost-burdened"

Opportunities Make Destinies, Inc. is a 501c3 operates as a Community Development Corporation (CDC) dedicated to revitalizing underserved communities. Our work focuses on providing attainable housing, container home solutions, and holistic wraparound services to veterans, single mothers, and low-income families.

Future Project: Doorways to Hope

The Doorways to Hope aims to address these pressing issues through a multifaceted approach in several ways

• Modular Container & Tiny Homes

  • Development of a community of modular container and tiny homes, by offering a cost-effective and scalable solution to increase the affordable housing supply

• Hotel Conversion

  • Repurposing an hotel into affordable housing units to provide rapid rehousing for those experiencing homelessness by leveraging existing infrastructure to expedite availability

• Supportive Services

  • Integrate services to include job training, resume writing, financial literacy, veteran benefits, healthcare access, and assisting with other underlying issues to are contributing to homelessness and housing instability while promoting long-term self-sufficiency
